First Responders and Family Health in Abbotsford and Chilliwack

I have advanced training in working with First Responders and their families through the BC Fire Fighter Occupational Awareness Training. I am also an approved provider for several City Departments and the BC Ambulance Service.

My main therapeutic modality is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an evidence-based trauma therapy that has proven effective in helping individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences.

Additionally, I have lived experience within my own family system.

I believe in the significant impact of occupational and environmental factors on mental health and use a collaborative, strengths-based approach in my sessions. To ensure that therapy is accessible and convenient, I offer flexible appointment times and the option for both in-person sessions at our Abbotsford clinic or virtual consultations for those who prefer this approach.

First responders and family therapy might be right for you if you are experiencing:

Through therapy, first responders can learn to recognize signs of burnout and implement strategies to prevent and recover from it, leading to improved mental health and job performance.

Therapy helps improve communication skills and resolve conflicts in personal and professional relationships. It also helps in understanding and changing dysfunctional relationship dynamics.

Therapy offers techniques to control anxiety symptoms and explores the roots of anxiety, promoting a calmer and more centered state of mind. It also helps build coping strategies for dealing with anxiety triggers.

Therapy aids in managing depression by providing support and techniques to improve mood and emotional well-being. It also helps in identifying and addressing the underlying causes of depression.

Therapy assists in identifying negative self-perceptions and transforming them into positive self-awareness. This process boosts confidence and promotes a healthier self-image.
